Logica3's Lisa Page Speaks to Independent Writers of Chicago on Web Design and Usability
Design firm president creates resource list available online
West Dundee, IL—January 15, 2002—Lisa Page, president of Logica3, a communications design firm, spoke to a meeting of the Independent Writers of Chicago (IWOC) on January 8, 2002 on web design and usability issues. The theme of the presentation, according to Page, was think like a user.
“So many sites on the web are not designed with the user's needs in mind,” says Page. “Often, web sites are poorly organized, visually cluttered and do not effectively communicate their intended message. The main goal of a good business web site is to help visitors get the information they need quickly and efficiently.”
Page's presentation, entitled “Enhance Your Writing and Communications Business with the Web,” covered the fundamentals of building, marketing and maintaining a web site. She tailored the content to address the specific needs of the independent professional, and used case studies of existing small business sites to illustrate the key points.
“Lisa took a technical subject and impressively presented it so all levels of users could understand,” said Mary Beth Huffman, program chair for IWOC. “Through her extensive research of the communications business, she presented valuable, apropos illustrations on how the communications specialist can effectively net more business by being web savvy.”
Page and her staff also developed a resource list with links to web sites and other sources of information about a variety of topics related to developing and maintaining a professional small business web presence.
